We'd never tried Ethiopian food before, and I'm so thankful this was our first experience. The host (owner?) was friendly and gracious, and his recommendation for our first Ethiopian meal was spot on. I even love that when I mused about the challenge of not having a fork, rather than placate me with an inauthentic utensil he just smiled warmly and said, "I'll bring you more bread."It was a flavourful and delicious experience we'll definitely share with friends in the future.A note for asthmatics or others with respiratory issues: it's not a mark against them at all, but a table nearby was having the coffee service, which is a traditional way of drinking coffee. This included a brazier of incense that smouldered like a small bushfire (imagine a whole carton of incense sticks lit at once...no exaggeration) filling the room with a light haze. Again, I'm sure this is authentic and awesome, but my lungs have always been sensitive to smoke and it was a bit thick. That small issue aside, we were all smiles and yummy noises, and will certainly return for another meal.

Mouldy injera which was also rigid and smelled/tasted rotten. The wot was also salty and not appropriately seasoned. Much better options available on commercial. I hope they improve for their sake and to best showcase delicious Ethiopian cuisine.

Ordered dry fish tibs and did not expect it came out like little deep fried fish nuggets. The flavour was decent though, quite salty and reminds me of Chinese food seasoning.Good portion but still a bit expensive (23.99) considering the presentation. My friend orders the vegetarian platter and wished to take out one of the veggies, but unfortunately the waitress didn’t seem to understand my friend even though she repeated after my friend… not sure what happened there.

Atkilt is phenomenal! I remember visiting Vancouver 3 years ago and had a great time catching up with old friends over a veggie platter here at Gojo cafe and revisiting it again the other day, the family-based service is what keeps us coming back.

First time trying Ethiopian food, it was very pleasant. Owner was friendly and were helpful in exploring tbe menu. There are no utensils and you are expected to eat with your hands.Meats were flavorful and veggies were too. It was a nice segway into unfamiliar dishes.

“This is our 4th time there! Excellent food, clean, tasteful, simple. Beautiful variety of art and colors and furniture inside. I usually have the meat-vegetarian option. Injera (a type of bread) is a blessing. Service is fast and friendly.”
